These two have an understanding that goes deep, like a thousand metres under the ocean deep. Both being Water signs, they instantly ‘get’ the other person without many words having to pass between them. And for Scorpio, who rarely feels like anyone ‘gets’ them, love with a Pisces can feel like settling into a warm, bubble bath.

For their part, the Piscean loves being with someone who, like them, is in touch with their emotions. The practicality of the Earth signs can leave them cold while the rational Air signs just leave them baffled. And the Fire signs with their short tempers and blunt way of speaking simply make our gentle Pisces want to flip their tail(s) and swim away to calmer waters.

Without a doubt, the most famous celebrity couple with this combination was Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton- those two glitzy, glamorous megastars who were hell-bent on self-destruction.

The Pisces in this relationship was, of course, Liz Taylor. Alluring, enigmatic and always intriguing, her real life mirrored most people’s fantasy lives. And while she seemed to adore the limelight, a part of her –the Pisces part of her- felt the need to escape through alcohol and drugs.

Burton, in classic Scorpio style, had his own demons to deal with. His love for Elizabeth Taylor was often overshadowed by the guilt he felt at leaving his first wife and his children to be with the love of his life. And he too, resorted to alcoholism to numb the pain.

Elizabeth’s Moon in Scorpio meant that she was not immune to dark, depressive moods and self-destructive behaviour either and their two marriages were filled with the usual drama and jealousies that only Scorpio types can bring out in each other.

However, there was a genuine tenderness between them as well as the kind of on-screen chemistry that was mesmerising to watch when they starred in films together.

But it wasn’t enough and when they divorced for a second time in 1974 it was the end of one of Hollywood’s greatest romances.
